As one of only five UNESCO Cities of Literature, Melbourne's literary heritage and culture is internationally recognised.
In June 2014, Melbourne officially became home to a City of Literature office. The new office is located at the Wheeler Centre, will support and highlight the existing literary scene in Melbourne.
A Director of the City of Literature Office has been appointed to oversee the coordination and promotion of Melbourne as a City of Literature and will represent Melbourne in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
