The North Precincts of Melbourne incorporates North and West Melbourne as well as Kensington. Within this district you will find the urban Villages of Errol Street and Victoria Street in North Melbourne, as well as the Queen Victoria Market, the Arts House Meat Market and Kensington. Pretty and leafy, these strips are sensational for strolling and and shopping!

North Melbourne

North MelbourneNorth Melbourne is one of the city's most dynamic and complex areas. It residential area of established and new housing is blended with retail, community, commercial and industrial facilities. Errol Street, lined with wrought iron Victorian verandahs, has emerged as one of the Melbourne's cool locales. 

This pretty strip is crammed with cafés and restaurants spilling on to the footpaths. Spend lazy days and funky nights enjoying the hospitality of Errol Street and surrounds, or sampling its cultural diversity.

Renowned for its rich cultural roots, the North District is historically and currently significant as a stomping ground for university students, theatre afficionadoes and the literati.  The District is home to the North Melbourne Town Hall and the Meat Market Arts complex, as well as a market, libraries, book stores, antique stores, galleries and wonderful architecture.

Nearby Kensington has a distinctive character. Its quirky mix of housing types and village-like shopping hub has won hearts with its appeal.

Kensington offers visitors an opportunity to sample community life in a leafy setting. Drop by for homewares, cafes and a selection of local retail outlets along Macaulay Road and Bellair Street.
